It Just Doesn’t Make Sense

You know what makes no sense to me? Well a lot of things actually, but what’s on my mind is that the question “Who has better taste in music?” makes absolutely no sense. There are so many layers to that question that confuse me. What is the “best” music? Indie because it’s unique? Pop because it’s popular? Classical because it’s ‘mature’? 80s because they’re classics? Everyone has their own taste in music and I feel like no one should be told that they have bad taste in music. I’ve been told that I don’t have good taste in music and I really don’t think that’s the case, I mean why would I? I like the music I like so naturally I would think I have good taste in music. Basically, all of my friends have different tastes in music, some of it I like, some of it I don’t like, but that doesn’t mean they have bad taste in music. All that means is that they have their favorite music and I have mine. There’s nothing else to it. This isn’t a super confusing question at all when it’s asked on the spot, but I just don’t get the hidden layers to it. I believe that the answer to this question is everyone and no one because everyone has different tastes in music and that doesn’t affect anyone else, so no one should criticize anyone else’s music tastes. It just doesn’t make sense.
