Color, color, color

A while ago I saw a post on some social media page about how a person would explain colors to someone who is blind. How would a person go about doing that? I figured it is the perfect topic to start getting into at 11:00 at night. Starting with red. I think fire, heat, sharp, bold, anger. So put them next to a fire and tell them to put their hands near the flame, explain what it feels like to have a lie confirmed that you knew already knew but were denying, give them a rose and point out the thorns, the feeling of blacktop that’s been under the sun all day. Next, orange. Citrus, zingy, a pop, colorful graffiti. Give them an orange to eat, orange crush to drink, bring them outside to a busy street (preferably next to graffiti for affect) on a gorgeous, sunny day and listen to the sounds of the cars. Yellow. Sun, sunflowers, summer days, happiness. Bring them to a sunflower field at sunset and let them feel that type of warmth, have them run through the field with a smile on their face, make them laugh until their side hurts. Green. Grass, nature, almost the smell of the ocean, a good feeling you can’t quite place. Bring them to a thriving park to listen to the trees rustling and to smell the freshly cut grass, describe a strange happiness when you’re tired that makes you laugh and gives you an odd smile, bring them to the ocean to smell the salt and the air. Blue. Water, the sound of the ocean, chlorine, paint, sadness. Take them to the ocean to listen to the sound of the waves, bring them to a pool to smell the chlorine, paint a room blue so they can smell the paint (but not too much), describe a vivid sadness that you get from loosing a competition that you cared so much about, or the feeling that comes with losing a pet or loved one. Purple. Lilac bushes, violets, bold and surprising. Take them to a pungent flower field with lilacs and/or violets so they can smell the sweet zing, explain the feeling of putting yourself in a completely vulnerable and scary place and being completely accepted and in agreement with. That’s all I have for tonight, I’ll probably make another one if this was fun to read so let me know!
